Developing your team's decision-making skills is critical in today's competitive environment and a prerequisite for leadership advancement. The Decision-Making Style Inventory is a powerful tool for helping leaders understand their decision-making style, identify potential roadblocks to career advancement, and uncover effective ways of interacting with others.
How It Works
The Decision-Making Style Inventory is a 20-item assessment that develops decision-making skills by measuring two structural styles, systematic and spontaneous, and two processing styles, internal and external. These dimensions are combined and plotted on a four-quadrant chart used to uncover participants' preferred decision-making style: systematic-internal, systematic-external, spontaneous-internal, and spontaneous-eternal.
Uses and Applications
What makes the Decision-Making Style Inventory different is it doesn't measure intelligence or who is right during a dilemma. Instead, it shows individuals how to differ in the way they gather information, organize, and then process this data. The assessment is a powerful tool that has many applications, including leadership training, coaching, and performance appraisals.
By the end of this assessment, participants will:
- Define the four primary decision-making styles
- Identify one's preferred style of decision making
- Understand the strengths and liabilities of each style
- Learn how to develop the ability to flex one's decision-making style
