Identify Your Personality Style
In any field of work and in day-to-day life, getting along with others is critical. When we get along with others, we work better, communicate effectively, are more productive, more engaged, and happier overall. But have you ever clashed with someone because your personalities were so different? This can be a problem as it creates miscommunication and small upsets that build up over time. However, there's a way to overcome this. Understanding your own personality style, or behavioral style, and the personality and behavioral styles of others helps you know how to adapt your style to get along with almost anyone.
Part of HRDQ's best-selling Style Suite, What's My Style is a personality style assessment for management development training. Individuals will identify their personality style, improve their people skills, learn how personality drives behavior, and improve interpersonal interactions.
By responding to a simple 18-item inventory, participants will be able to learn their preference for one of four basic behavioral styles, see how a preferred style affects behavior, and discover how to capitalize on strengths and combat weaknesses to create greater success in their lives.
How It Works
The purpose of What’s My Style is to help participants capitalize on the strengths and limit the weaknesses of their personality styles.
What's My Style starts with a style assessment in which individuals are given 18 pairs of adjectives. With a limit of five points, learners distribute points between the two adjectives in each pair – indicating the degree to which they feel the word describes their behavior. Completion of this assessment takes approximately 10 minutes, and scoring the assessment reveals a dominant preference for one or more four personal styles:
- Spirited
- Direct
- Considerate
- Systematic
Uses and Applications
What's My Style is appropriate for anyone to use for both personal and management development. The style assessment can be used as a standalone training assessment, or it can be incorporated into a more comprehensive training program. It makes an effective foundation component for a variety of soft skills training topics, including:
- Communication
- Leadership
- Team building (We recommend team building training courses)
- Supervisory skills
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this assessment, participants will:
- Pinpoint one of four style preferences.
- Discover how style affects behavior.
- Recognize the strengths and weaknesses of each style.
- Learn how to interact with different styles.
