There are two significant dimensions of behavior influencing situations where people must work together: task behaviors and processing behaviors. In order to achieve a high level of cooperation and effective functioning, employees must be able to engage simultaneously in both types of behaviors consistently.

The Group Development Assessment (GDA) allows groups to evaluate how they are currently functioning in both of these dimensions. By combining each member’s inventory scores into a group profile, members get a clear, comprehensive picture of their development - and of what it will take to become a team.

How It Works

Individuals respond to 40 statements based on the conditions within their organization. Results are transferred to the group profile to create an overall picture of the perception of group development. Through discussion, group members determine what is needed to achieve improvement and develop an action plan.

Uses and Applications

The GDA is designed for application with groups that have specific tasks to perform. It is intended for use as a diagnostic system to help managers, leaders, consultants, and group facilitators determine how to improve group functioning.

The Paper Assessment is ideal for facilitators who prefer to oversee scoring and administration of the assessment. It provides pressure-sensitive forms for manual scoring.

Online Assessment: Order One Per Participant.

Serving as the foundation for the workshop, the online assessment is administered to participants through the HRDQ Assessment Center. A detailed report is delivered electronically to the facilitator when complete.

About the Authors

John E. Jones, Ph.D., is the President of Organizational Universe Systems and has co-edited numerous experience-based training and consulting handbooks and annuals. As an experienced trainer, presenter, counselor, professor, entrepreneur, and consultant, he effectively bridges the theoretical and the practical.
