What's My Leadership Style is a management development tool, leadership style assessment, and training workshop that identifies a person's leadership style. It helps organizational leaders, managers, and supervisors improve performance and become effective leaders.


What's My Leadership Style is part of the best-selling HRDQ Style Suite and is now updated with a new look yet the same great content! This validated assessment quickly and accurately identifies a preference for one of four behavioral patterns based on measures of assertiveness and expressiveness: Direct, Spirited, Considerate, or Systematic.

How it works

By completing What's My Leadership Style, participants will gain an awareness of their leadership styles. With this critical information, they will be able to make deliberate choices about the most effective way to lead in different situations.


What's My Leadership Style starts with a leadership style assessment in which individuals are given 20 pairs of actions relating to leadership behavior. With a limit of five points, assessment-takers distribute points between the two actions in each pair – indicating the degree to which they prefer either action when acting as a leader. The result of scoring the assessment is the identification of one's preferred leadership style:

  • Direct
  • Spirited
  • Considerate
  • Systematic

Completing the assessment requires approximately 10 minutes. After you score the leadership style assessment, we recommend you allow approximately one hour for the interpretation of scores, topic discussion, debriefing, and action planning. The Facilitator Guide also offers an easy-to-follow workshop outline that expands What's My Leadership Style into a two-hour program.

With increased awareness of their personal style and a practical mental framework to build upon, aspiring leaders can assess and adjust their actions, interpret the behavior of others, and improve their ability to win hearts and minds in any situation that calls for effective leadership. It includes pressure-sensitive forms for scoring to aid manual tabulation.


Online Assessment Credit for Administrators: Order One per Participant

You can purchase credits here for the online version of this assessment, which is administered to participants through the HRDQ Assessment Center and includes personalized reporting, full-color charts, interpretive information, worksheets, and action planning. A detailed report is delivered electronically to the facilitator/administrator when complete.

QST is a convenient, one-hour virtual coaching session for first-time facilitators of this product. You'll receive personalized, one-on-one coaching with a subject matter expert who will get you up to speed quickly and accurately so you can step into the onsite with confidence. We'll answer all your questions about facilitation of the product. And you can add additional coaching hours as needed. Your coaching session can be provided by telephone or video call and at a time of your choosing.


Facilitators will also receive an HRDQ Certificate of Completion for completing the QuickStart session.
