Intuitive Decision-Making Profile
Intuitive Decision-Making Profile
The Intuitive Decision-Making Profile (IDMP) is an instrument created to assist individuals in acknowledging the significance of intuition within the decision-making process. It assesses a person's ability to employ intuition and accumulated knowledge when faced with intricate decisions.
Overview
Overview
In today’s fast-paced world, the ability to make swift, sound decisions can be the key differentiator between simply surviving and truly thriving. Research has consistently shown that the most effective leaders aren’t just those who rely on data and traditional methods; they are the ones who harness the power of intuition as an essential ally in their decision-making process.
Imagine this: When faced with a critical decision, you could easily navigate complexities, drawing from a deep reservoir of real-world experiences combined with gut feelings. This is the essence of great leadership – the ability to listen to that inner voice while balancing analytical thinking.
Intuitive Decision-Making Profile (IDMP) gives you a competitive advantage. This assessment gives you the decision-making tools to help you make complex decisions using your "database" of real-world knowledge and experience to work, guided by your intuition.
How It Works
How It Works
The Intuitive Decision-Making Profile was designed to help individuals recognize the role of intuition in decision making. The instrument evaluates the respondent's capacity for using intuition in decision-making situations.
Participants complete the 40-item inventory that examines how much they incorporate intuition when making business-related decisions. They then review background information about intuitive decision-making to understand its importance. Next, participants score their assessments, chart their results to learn which areas need focus, complete the "When to Use Intuition" table, discuss the "Intuitive Processing Mode," and complete the "Plan for Enhancing Intuition."
Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes
Individuals who must make decisions as part of their job will benefit from this tool. However, individuals with some experience in their field and who regularly make complex, non-routine decisions under conditions of uncertainty will benefit the most.
By the end of this assessment, participants will
- Discover the extent to which they already utilize their intuition.
- Determine when it is appropriate to use intuition in decision-making.
- Learn to identify and overcome emotional and cognitive "blocks."
- Enhance the conscious use of intuitive decision-making.
Uses and Applications
Uses and Applications
The IDMP is an effective tool for developing versatility in decision-making and increasing personal effectiveness in the workplace. Building intuitive decision-making is particularly helpful in situations characterized by complex underlying relationships, such as mergers, reorganizations, and strategy formulation.
After training, participants will understand the Intuitive Processing Mode™, which is an original concept of how intuition works in decision-making situations throughout three steps:
- Resources and Readiness: To what extent do you have a base of resources to draw on for intuitive decision making?
- Overcoming Blocks to Accessing Resources: To what extent can you break free of the things preventing you from using your intuition?
- Practicing Intuitive Decision-Making: To what extent are you aware of patterns developing in situations and the physical signals that confirm or deny those patterns?
