Team Conflict Strategies Inventory
Team Conflict Strategies Inventory
Every team handles conflict differently – some teams avoid conflict at all costs, while others thrive on the energy and motivation it brings. The Team Conflict Strategies Inventory (TCSI) is a workplace conflict resolution training and assessment that reveals how your team typically responds to conflict and equips it with strategies for resolving disagreements productively.
Overview
Overview
Team conflict is inevitable – but how a team responds to it isn't. Unresolved tension erodes trust, drains productivity, and can quietly derail even strong teams. But when handled well, the same conflict can become a source of better decisions and stronger working relationships.
Understanding your team's default responses is the foundation of effective conflict resolution in the workplace. Training built around the Team Conflict Strategies Inventory starts there. Using a series of realistic team conflict scenarios, the assessment identifies the strategies a team currently relies on – from avoidance to confrontation to collaboration – and shows how those default responses help or hinder performance.
With that shared picture in hand, teams learn to recognize unproductive patterns, practice more constructive approaches, and build a common framework for addressing disagreements before they escalate. The result is a team that doesn't fear conflict – it knows what to do with it.
How It Works
How It Works
The assessment presents teams with five typical conflict scenarios and is administered in two phases. Team members are first asked to predict how their team would handle each situation by ranking strategy alternatives. Then the team comes together to reach consensus on the items. This approach allows individual team members to share their perceptions and reach conclusions about the team's common strategies.
