Leader Manager Profile
Leader Manager Profile
Leaders and managers play unique roles: leaders inspire and drive change, while managers focus on structure and efficiency. Yet, today’s fast-paced business climate demands managers to balance both skill sets. The Leader Manager Profile (LMP) sets a new standard by clarifying these competencies, empowering managers to combine effective leadership with strong management.
Overview
Overview
While leaders and managers may be thought of as having the same role, there are differences that set these two roles apart. For example, leaders may focus on inspiring and motivating people, while managers may focus on the tasks at hand and reaching specific outcomes. Or, leaders may encourage creativity, innovation, and change, while managers may focus on working within established structures and ensuring efficiency. These are just a few ways that separate the roles of leaders and managers.
However, today's business climate demands all managers effectively combine both leadership and management skills. But, most managers are not clear on what distinguishes these competencies. Set a new company standard with the Leader Manager Profile (LMP), a training assessment illustrating how competent leaders contribute to the demands of your marketplace.
How It Works
How It Works
The Leader Manager Profile utilizes a 36-item assessment in digital or print format. The assessment presents 36 statements pertaining to either managing or leading. After scoring is complete, participants receive a profile plotting their leadership and management scores (as well as sub-scores for six individual competencies). Feedback scores from associates provide a side-by-side comparison. Finally, an action planning activity, worksheet, and reflection questions provide a framework for improvement.
Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Clarify the differences between leading and managing.
- Pinpoint the skills needed to be effective in each role.
- Understand how to balance and improve the two skills sets.
Uses and Applications
Uses and Applications
The Leader Manager Profile provides useful feedback to participants about their leadership and management skills. It was designed to help participants learn about their leadership and management strengths and identify opportunities for improvement. This assessment is highly effective when used as a stand-alone instrument. However, it can serve as a component of a larger management or leadership training program.
