Visionary leaders are inspiring; and every organization, regardless of size or mission, requires leadership that can manage existing business while motivating and planning toward future growth. The Comprehensive Leader is a 40-item assessment that will help participants to discover their personal leadership style, recognize their potential, and understand how to realistically exercise visionary leadership.
How It Works
The assessment presents 40 statements pertaining to current leadership behavior. After scoring is complete, participants create a profile by plotting their sub scores in the four dimensions of leadership on charts. Feedback scores provide a side-by-side comparison. Participants then review the 15 possible leadership profiles. Finally, thought-provoking questions encourage individuals to find insight from the assessment results and take action for improvement.
The Comprehensive Leader will help you:
- Understand the concept of strategic and visionary leadership
- Identify the organizational benefits
- Learn how to put these principles into practice
Uses and Applications
A variety of leaders will benefit from this training tool, including team or department leaders, middle managers and senior-level contributors and well-respected, influential team members. As with all HRDQ assessments, The Comprehensive Leader is effective as a stand-alone instrument or as a component of a larger training initiative - flexible enough to be used at various stages of a leadership development program. The instrument can also be used as a complement to other leadership models. Ideas for building bridges between The Model of Comprehensive Leadership and other popular leadership models are presented in the facilitator guide. This is ideal for any type of workplace setting, from private companies and non-profit organizations to education institutions and governmental agencies.
Theory & Development
The Comprehensive Leader is based on extensive research of both academic and practitioner literature on leadership. The foundation of the Model of Comprehensive Leadership is active knowledge - knowledge that is in constant development and consistently provides the basis for leadership behavior. The Model of Comprehensive Leadership captures the four dimensions of leadership knowledge necessary for visionary leadership. They include:
- Know Yourself
- Know Others
- Know Your Organization
- Know the World
Ultimately, HRDQ's study advocates that the key to successful, visionary leadership is both the knowledge and practical application of each of these dimensions.
