Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory

Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory

The Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory (CCAI) is a trusted assessment tool for multinational organizations, global mobility teams, and DEI leaders. Designed to improve communication and collaboration across cultures, the CCAI helps individuals build the core competencies for success in diverse environments. It measures four key dimensions: emotional resilience, flexibility/openness, perceptual acuity, and personal autonomy, providing valuable insights that drive more effective cross-cultural interactions.

Overview

Understanding your own cultural identity is the critical first step to working effectively across cultures. The Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory empowers individuals to uncover blind spots and recognize personal areas where cultural understanding may be limited.

Through this assessment, participants gain deep insights into their strengths and development areas across four essential skill sets: emotional resilience, flexibility/openness, perceptual acuity, and personal autonomy. These are the building blocks of effective cross-cultural communication.

Whether you're preparing for an international assignment or leading a diverse team, the CCAI provides a clear roadmap for personal growth in global settings.

How It Works

Participants will explore their cultural identity and learn to improve their interactions with other cultures. Forty-five steps create an informative, interesting, practical, and fun learning experience.

The Facilitator Guide includes detailed methods for using the passport, as well as the administration, scoring, profiling, and interpretation of the Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory to help participants enhance their strengths and develop their trouble spots in four skill areas:

  • Emotional resilience
  • Flexibility/openness
  • Perceptual acuity
  • Personal autonomy

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will do the following:

  • Be more successful in cross-cultural interactions
  • Participate more effectively in multicultural discussions
  • Develop readiness for travel or study abroad
  • Access their competencies for relocating to another culture
  • Improve their productivity as a member of an intercultural team
  • Select and train global leaders
  • Contribute to a corporate culture valuing cultural diversity

Uses and Applications

The main goal of the CCAI is to increase the ability of participants to interact with people from other cultures, and to do the following:

  • Define the concept of culture
  • Raise awareness of cultural backgrounds and cultural identities
  • Self-assess cross-cultural effectiveness
  • Examine expectations and feelings regarding cross-cultural experiences
  • Identify fundamental causes of cross-cultural difficulties
  • Investigate ways to improve cross-cultural effectiveness
  • Create commitment to action plans that improve cross-cultural effectiveness
