Overview
Overview
Whether we realize it or not, teamwork is embedded into our lives – we belong to obvious teams, such as sports leagues, and not-so-obvious teams, such as community or volunteer organizations. And, of course, we find ourselves operating in teams at work.
A well-functioning team can make all the difference between success and disaster, but you need to take a step back and look at the individual level of teams. After all, teams are comprised of individuals who work together toward a common goal. So, how do you hone the skills in individuals to create a team that achieves its goals and drives success? Personality assessments for team building can make all the difference.
Part of HRDQ's best-selling Style Suite, What's My Team Member Style, is a team-building assessment that identifies team member personality style and develops the interpersonal skills needed for effective teamwork.
Easy to use and easy to apply, the assessment measures team member preferences for one or more basic behavioral styles: Direct, Spirited, Considerate, and Systematic.
What's My Team Member Style also includes a feedback component that gives individuals a sense of how others view them. Combining the assessment with peer perceptions enables individuals to better understand their behavior, learn how to adapt it to improve interpersonal relationships, develop rapport, and become more effective team members.
How It Works
How It Works
Personality assessments for team building lead to greater self-awareness and personal development and enhanced communication and team cohesion. The What’s My Team Member Style is designed to help individuals identify how they behave on their team, capitalize on their strengths, and learn how to interact effectively with their team members.
The What's My Team Member Style assessment starts with an 18-item inventory that takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Each item is a pair of statements relating to team member behavior. With a limit of five points, assessment-takers distribute points between two statements in each pair, indicating the degree to which they feel each statement describes their behavior.
Scoring the assessment reveals the "My Team Member Style Profile" and a dominant preference for one or more of four personal styles: Direct, Spirited, Considerate, or Systematic. In addition to the self-assessment, the What's My Team Member Style Feedback Form allows individuals to gauge how they are perceived by others on their team.
