Benchmarks of Team Excellence
Benchmarks of Team Excellence
Benchmarks of Team Excellence is a research-based team effectiveness assessment and workshop that measures team performance using insights from the people who know the team best: its members. It evaluates six proven indicators of high-performing teams – alignment, effectiveness, empowerment, passion, commitment, and results – and provides actionable strategies for lasting improvement.
Overview
Overview
Great teams don't happen by chance – they're built with intention, insight, and the right tools. Benchmarks of Team Excellence gives leaders an honest picture of a team's strengths and growth areas by drawing on the firsthand experience of team members.
Grounded in research on leadership behaviors and high-performing teams, the team effectiveness assessment measures six indicators of excellence. Together, they create a clear roadmap for building a team culture where every member is aligned with organizational goals, feels empowered to contribute, and is committed to shared results.
Whether you're a leader working to strengthen collaboration or a team looking to improve how it works together, Benchmarks of Team Excellence delivers practical strategies and actionable next steps.
How It Works
How It Works
Benchmarks of Team Excellence will help any team become excellent, including departments, management teams, project teams, and self-directed work teams.
By combining individual scores with the team's scores, participants receive a clear portrait of overall performance across the six indicators of excellence:
- Alignment: A deep sense of vision or purpose that is shared among team members.
- Team Effectiveness: Strong internal processes that allow coordinated efforts, such as shared values, trust, open communication, flexibility, and decision-making.
- Empowerment: Feeling empowered to do what is necessary, both personally and within a collective power.
- Passion: High and sustained levels of energy, enthusiasm, excitement, and confidence.
- Commitment: Deep commitment to the purpose of the team and to each other.
- Results: Accomplishing outstanding results based on high standards.
Interpretative information provides insight into the ranges and scores. With analysis, discussion, and action-planning questions, participants reflect on the team's functioning and identify ways to improve it.
